From 01st-06th September 2024, Team Rwanda comprised by CG Evariste Murenzi of RCS, Pierre Sindi DAF of Dide Rwanda Organization, SP Alex of RCS, Frank K CR of Interpeace, Celestin M ED of PFR and Egidia from RCB participated in the 26th ICPA Annual Conference held in Singapore where more than 1,000 participants from more than 70 countries attended.
Numerous presentations based on researches have shown that successful rehabilitation and reintegration need collaboration of different institutions, ex / offenders and families of offenders. Different programs as key factors to help offenders, ex-offenders and their families have been highlighted for successful reintegration and also to avoid recidivism.
Another point that was tackled on during this Conference is to take care of children of the incarcerated person as well as their families left behind. The process of reintegration will be easy once the inmate is released.
Mental health, vocational trainings and other programs like linking ex-offenders with job opportunities on the market are the ones most recommended among others.
In conclusion, The president of ICPA thanked all the participants and confirms that the 27th ICPA will be held in Rwanda next year in October 2025 and CG Evariste Murenzi has welcomed all participants in Rwanda.
